Detailed Itinerary
Lemosho is the most remote and scenic route up Mt Kilimanjaro. It has a good success rate of up to 98% since it’s longer and offer better acclimatization. Lemosho route climb start at Londorossi Gate on the western side of the mountain.
The western side of Mt. Kilimanjaro is still very wild and you may encounter and see antelopes, buffaloes and even elephants. It is among the newest route offering un-spoilt, remote and breathtaking views with few people. This is a superb choice for your climbing up Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Day 1: Moshi/Arusha. On your arrival, you will be met at the airport and be transferred to a hotel in Arusha or Moshi where you will spend the night. This day will allow you time to regenerate (jet lag effect) and meet with your guides for the climb as they give you a detailed climb orientation and gear check. Overnight: Mc-Ellys Hotel (BB)
Day 2: Arusha/Moshi – Londorosi – Mti Mkubwa (2,800m). You will be picked from the hotel and be transferred to Kilimanjaro National Park, Londorosi Gate where your climb will start. The route is located on the western side of Kilimanjaro. Your trek today will be short with a little walking through the mountain rain forest. Lemosho is considered the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro. The flora and fauna are richer here than the other popular routes through the rain forest up to our first camp at Mti Mkubwa. The days walk will be 6kms. Meals and overnight: Mti Mkubwa
Day 3: Mti Mkubwa –Shira Camp (3,850m). Leave the camp, and start the climb through a little rain forest then to the heather and moorland zone. A couple hours after lunch you cross into the Shira Caldera, a high altitude plateau, very different from the rain forest and less vegetation. Shira peak is the third of Kilimanjaro volcanic cones, and is filled with lava flow from Kibo Peak. Weather and volcanic action have decimated the crater rim. While here, you get your first close views of Kibo – the summit of Kilimanjaro. The days trek covers a distance of 8kms. Meals and overnight: Shira Camp.
Day 4: Shira Camp – Moir Camp: You will explore the Shira plateau for a full day. It is a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau which leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. You will have a picnic lunch en route during your trek. Then we continue to Moir Hut. There are a variety of walks available especially on Lent Hills for acclimatization. Meals and overnight: Moir Camp
Day 5: Moir – Barranco Camp (3,900 meters)u will hike towards East across the Shira Plateau still on heather and moorland passing the Shira Cathedral towards Moir camp, tucked away at the end of a huge gorge, at the foot of a giant lava flow where you can have you will have a hot lunch. You will descend down through the valley and see lots of attractive flowers such as Giant Senecio and Giant lobelia to Barranco Camp, which is beautifully set up on a ridge at the foot of the Barranco Wall. You will meet other climbers here from other routes. Meals and Overnight: Barranco Camp.
Day 6: Barranco – Karanga Valley- Barafu Hut. After breakfast, you will have a fun filled day with a challenge to climb Barranco wall a 500 ft lava flow. It’s not a technical wall, but challenging nonetheless. Once on top of the “wall”, the climb becomes easier and extremely beautiful with fantastic views of the crags and crevasses of the jagged peaks of Kibo on your left. Lastly, you will descend into the Karanga Valley where you will have lunch before continuing to Barafu hut for the night. Barafu means “ice” in Swahili, and it is extremely windy and cold at this altitude. You will also be able to see the two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Meals and Overnight: Barafu Hut.
Day 07: Barafu – The Summit – Mweka. This is the best day and also the toughest. There will be excitement as you start your day. After a short walk, the peak of Mawenzi will be visible painted with the colors of the African sun. You slowly go up over the rocky outcrops and through the scree until you reach to the top of the rim by sunrise to enjoy the roof of Africa. The view of the summit is dramatic. After summit you will be back to Barafu for lunch then down into Mweka camp for last night on the mountain. Meals and overnight; Mweka Camp
Day 08: Mweka – Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, you will have a 3-4 hour walk down to the gate, where you will be met by a vehicle for a drive back to your pick up point, to continue with your wildlife safari or a transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home after a farewell party with your team members. There will also a day room use in Arusha for Refreshment.
