Kenya is named after a mountain of the same name “Mount Kirinyaga”. The name came about after British colonies were unable to pronounce the name Kerinyaga.
Kenya is also a cradle of mankind. Between 1998 and 1999 the remains and fossils dating over 3.5 million [Kenyanthropus] were discovered west of Lake Turkana.
